Call Her Daddy- Podcast Series by Alex Cooper and Sofia Franklyn
(I will be talking about their series as a whole, but individual podcast can be found by the link or on apple music/Spotify)
Summary
Cooper and Franklyn open up about all the parts of their interesting lives in this podcast series titled Call Her Daddy. The duo has been recording their conversations for all to hear for the past couple of years. The topics covered range from anything about sex to dating in this day and age, and I would turn the volume down if you are near kids. It is very rare that the two hold back any of their thoughts, no matter how inappropriate they get. Their brutal honesty and bluntness has gained them great fame and praise from teenagers and young adults, but especially women. The girls openly talk about the situations they face going into young adult years that keeps young females interested. The conversation is friendly and open so the young girl feels accepted and in turn no judgement will be cast on her life experiences. Listening makes you feel a little more normal because the environment is open for all types of discussion from the girls. The environment and tone is one that has never been seen before, and that is what keeps ladies listening. The girls promote women empowerment and freedom without even trying to. These ladies show how a woman can be open and confident in todays world.
Response
When I first heard of Alex Cooper and Sofia Franklyn, I was intimidated. How could these women be so open and raw in such a broadcasted setting? I envied that they were so confident about such private experiences. Hearing the stories of their sex and dating life so vividly made me uncomfortable at first, but this feeling faded to humor and appreciation for their bluntness. These women are changing gender roles in our world. Their clever title "Call Her Daddy" already throws the normal gender role out of the window. This title displays women empowerment while adding the humor they always bring into the equation. This humor takes away the awkward feeling most get when talking about intimate experiences. I feel as if this podcast gives me "girl time" and I do not even have to interact in the conversation. They give a look into their lives and it makes your life seem a little less hectic than before. This gives the illusion that we, as women, are all going to face our challenges as we enter woman-hood and we are not alone. Although their approach to entertainment is raw and intense, I appreciate how it affects the young women of today.
